1.- July 10
Installation of Officers 2010 - 2011 | President Roberto Arce and his
Directors were installed during a dinner dance held at the facilities of the "Cancun Center", the local convention center.

1.- July 5-30 RITE Program teaches English in Cancun's Public Schools; (RITE = Research in Integrated Training &
Education)
|
1.- | During recent years we have hosted RITE teachers who came to Cancun from Texas (U.S.A.). They give low cost
instruction in spoken English to students who vary in age from elementary to high school level. (If we charge anything, the fee is never more than $10 USD for the
month's instruction.)
This year (2010)
instruction is being held at the Conalep technical high school and at the "Centro Comunitario 'Rotary International' de Cancun". Approximately 45 students at CONALEP and 25 primary level students received instruction.

AUGUST CALENDAR:

CLUB NEWS - AUGUST:

1.- August 10 - Nacosari Water Project
|
| 1.- The 10 meter (32 ft.) tower for the Nacosari Water Project was
finished. The project, begun during the past Rotary Year, began as a well drilling project and grew to include the tower, photo-voltaic energy for pumping,
and piping water to some 45 homes. |

1.- Sept. 10
| | 1.- Cancun's three Rotary clubs signed an agreement with four local universities for the purpose
of developing programs to promote social consciousness at all levels of society. |
|

2.- Sept. 11
| 2.- Wheelchairs were delivered to needy recipients at the Cancun Centro Comunitario 'Rotary
International'. During the year we deliver wheelchairs acquired from the Wheelchair Foundation and financed by joint service projects co-sponsored by Canadian
and American Rotary Clubs.

1.- Oct. 2 - Rotary Training Workshop in Cancun
| Rotarians from all seven Rotary Clubs in the state gathered in Cancun for an all-day Rotary Training Workshop.
Speakers included District Governor Carlos Posadas, PDG David González D., PDG Santiago Acona, PDG Normando Medina, PDG Cesar Rojas, PDG Carlos González B.,
PDG Juan R. Martínez C., Julio Castillo A., and Tito A. Lopez N.

2.- Oct. 2 - Exchange Students visit Cancun
| | Students from all over the state gathered in Cancun. Their meeting was held in conjunction with the Rotary Training event,
above. Following the Training event, the students accompanied many of the Rotarians to a late luncheon at the Hong Kong restaurant.

3.- Oct. 13 Governor's Annual Visit
| An assembly with governor Carlos Posada was held at 5 pm followed by dinner with spouses at 9:15 pm.

4.- Oct. 16 Disaster Relief Collection

students collect foodstuffs |
Donations of food were collected for the benefit of flood victims in Veracruz and Tabasco states following Hurricane ___ and heavy rains.

5.- Oct. 30 Exchange Students Showcase Typical Foods
|
Our three high school exchange students prepared foods typical of their homelands for a special fellowship dinner.

| 1.- Traditionally, on Epiphany the three "Magician Kings" deliver presents to Mexican children. (Since the advent of in-line
skates, Santa's sleigh arrives at many Mexican homes on Christmas Eve; this was not the case 50 years ago.) The Cancun RC takes toys to a schohol in the local area.

| 1.- The Cancun Rotary Club will provide volunteer workers (principally crowd control marshals and hole captains) for the fourth consecutive year when the Mayacoba Golf Classic
is held on February 16 - 20 (??). | | |

| 2.- We shall receive a visit by Rotarians who have co-sponsored our donation of wheelchairs.
Some 24 chairs will be delivered during their visit.

Gifts are taken to several local schools. This year the actual day, April 30 coincided with the District Conference, so the
delivery of gifts was postponed to May 11. They will be given to children in the (very) rural community of Nacozari. |

1.- May 10 Mothers' Day.
|
| 1.- | Every year Mothers' Day is commemorated by placing a wreath at the Statue to Motherhood which the Club built in 1985.
We also typically present small appliances and other gifts to needy mothers. This year we were accompanied by Rotarians from British Columbia, Canada.
